Sylvya J. Stevenson is an IT Master Budget Analyst for Criterion System. In this role, Sylvya manages and oversees a $137M operating budget for IT acquisitions and supports federal fiscal operations for various agencies.
Prior to Criterion Systems, she served three years as a Budget Analyst and the Position Review Committee Administrator in the finance department for the City of Kansas City, Missouri. She also served as the Assistant to the City Administrator for the City of Mission Hills, Kansas under the mentorship of Courtney Christensen before moving on to Criterion Systems.
Sylvya is a native of Kansas City, Missouri. In 2007, she graduated with distinction from the University of Missouri – Kansas City where she earned a dual B.A. in Political Science and Criminal Justice with a minor in Philosophy. In 2011, Sylvya earned her Master of Public Administration with a City Management and Public Policy concentration from the University of Oklahoma.
Sylvya joined NCBW in 2005. She founded and served as president of the National Congress of Black Women – Kansas City Chapter and now serves as Interim Chairwoman.
Her commitment to service extends to various organizations including the International City and County Manager’s Association (ICMA), Blacks In Government (BIG), Blue Hills Church of the Nazarene, and Big Brother Big Sister. Sylvya is approaching her second year as a Centurion through the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. She served as a member of the Host Committee for the planning and execution of the 2016 ICMA Conference in Kansas City bringing nearly 3,400 visitors to the metro. Sylvya also serves as the Treasurer for the Northern Nights Toastmaster Club.
