Who may apply: High School students, existing college students and non-traditional college students entering college Fall 2024-2025 that reside within Missouri and Kansas.
Scholarship application opens Monday, August 21st and closes Thursday, September 21st at 11:59pm.
Scholarship recipients will be contacted October 2nd and must be present at the 10th Anniversary Scholarship and Awards Gala Ceremony Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 301 W 13th St, Kansas City, MO 64105. Register here for Gala tickets https://ncbwkansascity.org/
Help increase the number of annual scholarships given by purchasing a Gala ticket.
Eligibility Criteria for 2023 VIBE Brilliantly Scholarship
Various non-renewable scholarships will be awarded by the chapter to high school seniors and
adult/non-traditional students annually as funds permit.
To be eligible to receive an NCBW-KC scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:
a) Resident of Missouri or Kansas.
b) Minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
c) High school senior (enrolling in college or vocational studies in Fall/Winter 2024-2025) or
Non-traditional adult student (age 21 or older) enrolling or already in college in 2024-2025 Academic
Year.
d) Low-income/Demonstrates financial need*
* If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, we may require you or your parents to submit documents verifying
your income.
Required Documents
- Completed application (Note: Incomplete or late applications will not be considered)
- One letter of recommendation from a teacher, advisor, employer, or community member
- High school or college transcript
- Personal Essay (500 words maximum) addressing the following questions:
- Why do you feel you should receive the NCBW scholarship?
- What are your academic and career goals?
- How will the scholarship help you achieve your goals?
